After training with Rodney over the last several days, one thing has  become abundantly clear: the Crazy Monkey program exemplifies the  future of martial artistry and performance coaching. This is a system  with a built-in learning orientation, a refreshing departure from know-it-all approaches that only serve to perpetuate a status quo. Never  content to sit on a static idea, Rodney is constantly seeking out new  refinements and sophistication. By focusing on the positive, Rodney  builds a future for both individual participants and the broader  community. Positive psychology comes together with positive   physicality to form an well-rounded body of knowledge and a path to  success.

Rodney’s extraordinary accomplishments and innovations in martial arts training have received international acclaim. He is perhaps most widely known for pioneering a practical self-defense system that can be learned and implemented without years of training or rehearsing lengthy rituals of tradition. Both the foundational techniques and strategies of the CMD Program have been used widely throughout the world by elite-level fighters, tactical operators, and martial artists.

Despite wide approbation for the CMD Program, in my view, some of Rodney’s greatest contributions have come from his instruction and emphasis on the “mental” aspects of performance under adverse conditions. As a former police officer and Academy instructor, I have taught law enforcement and military operators about “performance under stress” for nearly 20 years. I firmly believe in the need to integrate dynamic mental skills applications into tactical training. Rodney does this exceptionally well. He is an engaging and effective instructor who relies heavily on an experiential, “hands on” approach to learning. His mental game training for tactical encounters can help operators to survive, to exercise sound judgment, and to perform well in life-threatening encounters.

I have recently teamed-up with Rodney as a Performance Psychology consultant and advisor to the CMD program and to the CMD Trainers worldwide. I chose to partner with Rodney, not only because of his tactical skill and experience, but also because I have found him to be one of the most thoughtful, innovative integrators of mental and tactical training in the world. I am confident that you will not be disappointed by his contribution to your program.

I am a professional corporate and life coach and came in contact with Rodney King and the CMD (Crazy Monkey Defence) program through my interest in the Martial Arts. The amount of cross over from sport coaching techniques to executive and life coaching initially surprised me but made perfect sense.

Although born out of sports coaching, it is the application of the techniques that makes the difference. Because of the creative approach that is adopted, the techniques are also highly effective tools in life and executive coaching. I have been so impressed with the results I have now integrated this approach into my executive coaching practices.

Corporate executive coaching is typically used to achieve goals set over a relatively short period of time compared to other areas of coaching. Cost effectiveness is one of the higher priority considerations. Because of this, there are considerable demands put on the effectiveness of the coaching. My executive coaching is now more driven, punchier and focused. In the corporate world, results are all important as they directly affect profits and the CMD program helps to achieve those results.

Working with Rodney and the CMD system has given me a deeper understanding of the key drivers of specific coaching approaches and what makes them so effective. No strategy is out of bounds as long as it works, from sports psychology to quantum and chaos theory.

With this refreshing and productive approach to human development, I can modify the way in which a technique is used to flex with the environment and still maintain its high level of performance effectiveness.

Of course, there is always opportunity for further development and I will continue to search out the best methods available. But be assured, the CMD program is at the highest end of the performance coaching scale and should be considered as a competitive advantage.

I am really excited to make sport allot more than people see it to be, it does not have to be a shallow experience. I use the term ‘sport’ merely as a metaphor; it encompasses any movement that brings about wellness in the mind and body. The true winners and champions in ‘sport’ are those who embrace the very deep spiritual qualities of courage, compassion, desire, belief, fearlessness, tenacity, boldness, patience and perseverance, in which all these culminate into optimal wellness in each individual. The secret is to be able to see the relevance of these qualities and how they apply on and off the playing field in all aspects of their lives! Wellness through movement is a powerful vehicle for self-discovery that anyone can embrace regardless of his or her level in any particular ‘sport’.

I have written many books on this subject and I receive positive feedback from so many people around the world. This message and the implementation thereof have deeply touched their lives. After you have read the books or heard the message you may be asking yourself what now?

The (CM)MA-Life program would help you continue, on your journey of personal growth through lessons learnt from ‘sport’, movement and the development of a strong mental game. Rodney is a world class athlete and performance coach, who has studied and practiced the martial arts for over 15 years and conducts seminars world wide spreading the message of optimal wellness through ‘movement’, ‘sport’ and mental game coaching.
