Licensing & Evaluation Requirements!

We adhere to very high standards when licensing and certifying our Trainers. With that said we are also very understanding about Trainers needs especially those who either make a living from coaching martial arts or those who would like too. Therefore You can immediately start advertising yourself as a CMD® Trainer in Training on joining our program. During the Coach the Trainer Clinics and depending on how engaged you have been in the process over the months preceding it and your ability in your own personal game, we will look at licensing you. Further all subsequent licensing and certification take place each year at the Trainers Clinics. The next tiers of licensing and certification in the CMD® Program are Trainer, followed by Professional Trainer, Advanced Trainer, Elite Coach and Master Coach. Each tier covers various benefits that you will have as you move up. This has been done to keep a consistent high standard of the program.

Tier 1- CMD® Trainer in Training Program

tr5_1You may be asking yourself how can we allow you to be a CMD® Trainer in Training without ever meeting you and give you a baseline permission to teach CMD® at your gym?

Firstly there are several restrictions that you will have to adhere to. But beyond that we also know that there are many people right now both saying and advertising they teach our material without backing or permission from us- so in our view if someone is going to do this they will do so even without our permission or backing. We feel that by giving current martial arts instructors a baseline permission to teach certain aspects of the CMD® Program, and as many of these instructors have already emmersed themselves in several of our instructional DVD's available on the market- here is a way to do it the right way and get recognized for doing so. Secondly I view it as studying at a university. You don’t need to wait until you have a degree to say you are at Harvard, however you do need the ‘degree’ to say that you have a degree from that institution. So Trainer in Training can be seen as joining the CMD® University as a student wanting to become a coach. Becoming a Licensed Trainer is like gaining an Associates Degree. Professional Trainer is somewhat like a full degree, with Advanced Trainer a Master of Arts and Elite Coach a PHD.

In the end Trainers in Training are not LICENSED CMD® Program Trainers yet. They are however working towards becoming one. This is where we the CMD® Tutors & Coaching Team help each person to reach their goals and to help develop them into what we feel and believe a CMD® Trainer should be.

The time frame for becoming a licensed Trainer, is dependent on many factors- of which your engagement in the program and your physical skill are a part. In the end most people are able to complete the process in about 12 months.

The Remaining Tiers Of Licensing

Tier 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 comprises of the Trainer, Professional Trainer, Advanced Trainer and Elite/Master Coach. The end goal of any CMD® Trainer is to be designated a Coach. A Coach in our view is the highest accolade any person in our program can achieve and be awarded. There are many instructors in the martial arts but very few Coaches.

Coaching is a supportive and facilitating relationship between the coach and the coachee, this is one of the main factors why coaching delivers such great results. Coaching is also beyond ego. One of the fundamental ways for example how martial arts is conveyed to most students even today is through dogmatic technique. This makes the person who is conveying the information an instructor and not a Coach. Although there is an importance on having good technique, greater results are always possible when the Coach helps the client answer questions from the inside out. This emphasis on the inner game is of prime importance as often the reason why clients are unable to grasp techniques and do not have the success they feel they should in their martial arts game is due to the inner opponent more so than the outer opponent. In order to become a Coach you have to be comfortable in your own skin, you need to be patient, caring and above all selfless. We don't take making a CMD® Coach lightly.

Each one of the remaining Tiers from 2 to 6, take approximately 12 months each to complete. In most cases from the time a person begins the Trainer in Training Program until he or she becomes a Master Coach it would have taken several years of study to complete. We don't believe that making worldclass coaches in less time than this is possible. Most importantly we not only act as Coaches to those Trainers coming up through the ranks, but are also available as Mentors to those who have made it through.

As we have done with the Trainers in Training and Trainers Program we are working on developing a complete seperate training program for each tier of Trainers licensing and certification.
