I found that Rodney King’s Crazy Monkey Defense Program really helped me in my professional Muay Thai Fights. It helped me to stay calm as I felt confident in weathering any storm. My knowledge of CM also helped me maintain little to no damage to my face in my major Muay Thai Fights in Thailand. In addition to this, it gave me confidence in dealing with elbow strikes, thus allowing me to strike back more effectively. Having worked predominately on the ground with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I found that CM was the perfect program for me and gave me confidence in my stand up abilities.

I love Rodney’s CM Program because of the versatility of its concepts and principles. The philosophies behind CM can be extended beyond the stand up game. I have personally found that the CM principles can be applied to my Jiu-Jitsu classes as well. Rodney’s style of coaching is straight forward, realistic and easy to understand. Though Rodney takes a no-nonsense approach to coaching, he also manages to inject an element of humour in his classes. What he teaches is readily applicable in real life situations, be that in or out of the ring. Rodney has helped develop my teaching style and my understanding of coaching for the better. I extend my sincere gratitude to Rodney and his Crazy Monkey Defense Program and would recommend this program in a heartbeat.

The Crazy Monkey Defense Program has really taken my game to the next level, and has made me a complete fighter within just one year. Going into my first fight I had absolutely no stand-up training at all. In fact, I didn’t' even start striking until six weeks before the fight! And to tell the truth, I had never even heard of the Crazy Monkey Defense (CMD), and I really had no idea what it was about. I was given a crash course in the CMD and my coaches worked me well enough to where I had my basic CM structure down in that short time period leading up to my fight. The CMD allowed me to perform well enough on my feet to the point where my opponent did not want to stand and trade with me anymore because of the shots I was landing on him. It went to the ground where I was more comfortable at that time, and I came out with the win. From there, I improved rapidly using the CMD in a very short period of time. With my improvements came a tremendous amount of confidence inside the cage and that confidence has helped me overcome some difficult match-ups.

The CMD enables me to compete with very experienced fighters... and beat them! Using the CMD, I was able to neutralize the offense of an opponent with well over a decade of kick-boxing experience, and dominate him in the stand up game! All of this I accomplished within a six month time frame!

I really believe in the CMD, especially for MMA, because you don't have to be the most technical striker in the world to be effective. Just by utilizing the fundamentals you can withstand any attack, land some great shots of your own, and get inside and take the fight to the ground, or wherever you want. If the basics of this system can do this for an MMA fighter, then imagine what the whole Crazy Monkey Defense Program can do to improve your game!

I am in San Jose at Michael Jen's for the week. The last four days I was teaching (wrestling) and learning (Crazy Monkey Defense) from Radek Sefcik, a student of Rodney King (and Michael Jen).

My stand up definitely leaves something to be desired so I am interested in spending time now on this aspect of my game, especially for MMA. This crazy monkey style seems very well suited to us wrestler types, who generally cringe (yes, myself included) at the thought of getting wacked in the head (I hate that, it makes me want to cry!).

If you wrestlers are trying to round out your skills with stand up training, check out the crazy monkey boxing style (check out Rodney King's website).
