“If you ever purchased Rodney’s old Sparring 101 DVD, you absolutely need to get these new Fight Compass DVD’s. It will take your sparring and fight game to the next level”.

The Fight Compass is for both beginners and advanced fighters. No matter if you want to improve your striking game for sparring, competition or even self-defense, this DVD is for you. In this DVD Rodney identifies 2 of the 4 major styles of sparring and shows you how to develop that style in your own personal game.

In part 1 of the Fight Compass DVD you will be introduced to the 4 predominate strategies used by 2 of the major styles of fighting, namely the Pressurer & Runner Styles of fighting. Each strategy is covered first by instruction, teaching you how to integrate it into your game, followed by a live sparring demonstration of that strategy in action.

The Pressurer Style is recognized by strategic forward pressure. Pressurers are the battle tanks of the fighting styles; Pressurers have presence, guts and are fearless. They know how to control space between them selves and their opponents and are always poised to take advantage of any weakness the opponent presents.

The Runner Style is fast, evasive and deceptive. Like a pack of Wild African Dogs, the Runner methodically tears it’s opponent down by using continues in and out attacks. Runners are hard to pin down, frustrate their opponents and lure them into a false sense of confidence.

In addition there is added bonuses of Rodney talking about his approach to sparring and how to get the most out of this DVD.

In part 2 of the Fight Compass DVD you will be introduced to the 4 predominate strategies used by 2 of the major styles of fighting, namely the Angler and Counter-Striker Styles of fighting. Each strategy is covered first by instruction, teaching you how to integrate it into your game, followed by a live sparring demonstration of that strategy in action.

Anglers are the magicians of the fight game, who use angles to attack their opponent before they are even aware that they are been attacked.

Counter-Strikers are the wise men of sparring, patient, methodical and always poised to take advantage of their opponent’s mistakes.

To be a complete fighter, to spar at your best, to be a winner, you need to not only know how to identify the 4 major styles of fighting. But you also need to know how to develop each one of those styles and use them to be the best. This DVD will show you how!

It\'s 1 a.m. Pacific Standard time and I just watched both volumes back to back. I purposely have not read the other reviews so as to not run into the \"they already said that\" issue as happens to me so often on this forum\r\n\r\nFirst off I have to say I think this is a very important dvd for coaches, athletes, and hobbyists. As we have all seen so often, the martial arts video universe is filled with dvds full of \"slick moves\" without really giving an understanding of when or where these moves might come into play. Not so with this set. All of the strategies shown were clearly explained without running into the quagmire of over explanation. This is not easy to do with an ever changing \"chaotic\" topic like sparring.\r\n\r\nI\'ve seen so many people get frustrated with sparring due to not knowing where to focus their time and attention and I will admit to being a part of that problem in the past as a coach. This dvd is an excellent spot for beginner and intermediate athletes to gain some focus and for advanced players to pick up on solid strategies which can be absorbed readily.\r\n\r\nAbsent in this set was the machismo and aggression so common with this subject. The sepia tone and piano music during some of the sparring segments reminded me of watching an old time phys. ed. film.\r\n\r\nWay to go Rodney!\r\n\r\nJerry

In the Fight Compass you are given four cardinal fighting styles, similar to how there are the four cardinal directions on a traditional compass. The Pressurer, Runner, Angler and Counter Striker styles, and the four training strategies that come with each serve to \"map out\" your sparring and allow you to develop a much more cognitive game.\r\n\r\nThis isn\'t a dvd full of static, action and reaction techniques. Yes, their are techniques to be learned and trained, however it\'s the conceptual approach given to each one that gives every individual the ability to customize them into their own game. This allows everyone training these concepts to fully customize their best sparring game.\r\n\r\nEverything is broken down in a clear and concise manner, and after every strategy, live sparring is demonstrated with said techniques in use. If you are serious about your fighting game, it\'s imperative you pick this set up. Quit going into the gym with no game plan, get this set!\r\n

Just got done watching both videos. \r\nThese videos are a valuable tool for anyone who is interested in improving their stand up game. Coaches and athletes of all levels will find these DVD\'s useful in expanding their game. The concepts that Rodney presents are so clear and concise that you can immediately start to put them into play in the training room. \r\nSimply Awesome...

The depth of in which Rodney and his team go into and demonstrate the concepts and strategies is invaluable and it follows up very nicely from the Championship Series.\r\n\r\nAs Rodney says, it\'s not just for us Crazy Monkeys, it\'s for any practitioner who has a \'Stand up\' component to their game, so whether that be boxers, Muay Thai fighters, Western Kickboxers or MMA practitioners. I firmly believe that this will improve your game to no end.\r\n\r\nEach style is presented and then demonstrated and then show in the context of sparring, which made it easy to digest and apply to my own game.\r\n\r\nI would throughly recommended the DVD on your particular style as this will improve your own game, however getting both DVD\'s whether you\'re a coach or athlete as it will enable you to be aware of your clients or opponents key strategies. \r\n\r\n....as for it leaving more questions, that\'s what the forums are for!! So get the DVD\'s and start some discussion!!

My favorite training DVD\'s are always ones that give you strategies and concepts as opposed to just techniques. This series, while focusing on strategy, definitely has some sophisticated technical information. If you\'ve ever wondered how some of your favorite boxers, kickboxers, and mma fighters were able to develop effective stand-up games, look no further. The concepts in this series are simple enough that you can watch it, commit a few things to memory, and head off to the gym to try em out. But there is also enough depth to keep you thinking and developing your game for years to come. Only reason why I\'m not giving it a full 5 stars is that it absolutely left me wanting more info and left me with some questions to answer for myself...but I suppose that\'s a good thing!
